Homeschooler’s Day Activity is designed for the homeschool community. It offers various activities to supplement their home curriculum, provide opportunities to develop new community relations, and the opportunity to do group activities. These activities are designed to encourage group interactions, cooperation, and teamwork.

Homeschooler’s Day Afternoon Activity will be held once a month on a Wednesday afternoon for 2 – 3 hours. Homeschool families will be required to sign in upon arrival and pay any fees required before participating. At this moment, we will not be able to allow drop-offs. So parents or guardians will need to remain for the duration of the activity. Parents and guardians are encouraged to participate with their children during this time or simply observe.

At the end of the activity, all participants will receive a certificate of completion to add to their portfolios.

Cost to participate: $5 per participant + cost of materials (materials cost will be determined by the activity) or $20 per family (up to five children) + cost of materials.

We ask that all participants arrive 15 minutes early to sign in and get settled.

Activities will be held at Ashlar Complex,
316 West Main Street Park Hills MO 63601
.

We will be using the downstairs hall. Go through the front door facing Main Street and someone will be available to guide you.

*At this time, we are trying to keep costs low to aid homeschooling families in these harsh economic times. However, our prices may change at any time depending on the needs required to keep these activities going.

February (time and date to be determined). Public Speaking for Youngsters

This month’s activity will focus on public speaking for kids and teens, its importance, and tips on overcoming fear and developing confidence.

During this activity, participants will learn how important it is to be able to speak in front of a group and how to accomplish this task despite the overwhelming fear or shyness that tends to grip so many when everyone’s focus is on the one speaking. They will learn techniques for speaking to a group, gain confidence, and practice a little before the activity ends.

Participants are encouraged to bring their favorite objects to share with the group.

Public speaking falls under the subject of English/Language Arts. This will be stated on the certificate of completion so parents can count it as supplemental material under that subject.

$2 per participant materials cost (this will cover any handouts given to the participants)
